Yellow Moss with Red Tips
Mosses are truly amazing plants, some of the most primitive yet pervasive life forms on earth, and their beauty can be astounding.
Immature Oak Leaves
My favorite stage in the life of a leaf is when it first emerges from the bud in the spring. It’s amazing to observe the fractal nature of the tiny leaves, and you can often see the true color of the leaf because the chlorophyl has not developed yet.
Trout Lily
This is a beautiful Trout Lily blossom. Photographed about 5 inches from the forest floor at River Edge Nature Center in Newburg, Wisconsin. Spring 2005.
Burgundy Sunflower 1
This is a personal favorite photograph of mine. An heirloom variety of purple/red sunflower that I grew at Wellspring Farm in Newburg, Wisconsin. Despite the poor focus, the colors and composition are very pleasing to me. September, 2005.
